Public Footpath 113 : High Fernley Rd to Huddersfield Rd via Field Pasture and Littlewood Close
(FP 114 forms a T - Branch with this Path to get to Low Wood )
Description
The entry point from Huiddersfield Road GRID SE 15201 27069 adjacent to Littelwood Close nr the Pet / Plumber Shop. The Path reaches High fernely Lane at GRID SE developers earliere this year diverted and closed the Fp withoput the apropiate orders . We have pursued the matter and this path remains clear and open
Route
The route commences off Huddersfield Road opposite Shooters Cafe and Wyke Methodist Church. It is way marked and runs dow the side of the Plumbers Merchants/ Pet Shop into Littelwood close and onward over the fields follow the line down until you come to the fields about 75 m or so.. You will come to a stile shown below looking back on itself
Stile allowing entry into fields Looking to the left you will see a long fence line which runs parrellel to the Wyke Railway tunnel which can be seen entering into the hill below you !
Looking accross to the Woodlands go straight ahead via the gate . A stable block is then visible to your left as you come to the end of this short path which takes you out at High Ferneley lane. Take left a procede past Woodside Farm to get to Judy Bridge. A choic of 3 woodlands is available en Route Low Wood to the Left Old Hanna to the Right or go to the Bridge and go right into Royds Hall great Woods

Looking SW from high Fernely Road the embankment headinng down into Low Wood is the old mineral line and FP 114 which can be reached about 200m up this short track

Wildlife
Pastures are very rich and abundant in Buttercups . The long dry grasses are abundant ibn Meadow Browns , Samlla Tortoise Shells , Peacock butterlies in high summer
History
High fernley House dates back to the 6th century. This period house can be seen on High Fernely Road about 40 m East from the stile on High Fernely lane
The sundial above the door remains functional on bright sunny days and very practical when time keeping ws everything in Mill and Industrial Days

No major problems .Muddy in winter Apropriate footwear Horses may be in fields . Fencing . Bramble , Nettles if around
