Public Footpath 120: Royds Hall Lane via Old Hanna Wood to High Fernley Road

Description

High Fernley road may be enterred off Huddersfield Road at the Primary school. The narrow lane proceded down to the wooded areas and becomes unsurfaced at the Bollards preventing Vehicular access. Entry into Old Hanna Wood can be made though either of the styles in close proximity to the Bollards

High Fernley road ends at the bollards and continues unsurfaced to Norwood Green via Sowden Lane over Judy Bridge

 

 

 

 

There are two wall stiles in close proximity to these Bollards that will take you into the woodland to the North of High fernely Lane known as Old hanna Wood

 

 

 

Wildlife

Green Woodpeckers can be heard calling Bluebells , Foxgloves and Rosebay Willowherb.

History

 

Old Hanna Wood contains some good examples of old Coal Bell Pits and slate amd crude coal cam still be seen near the surface

The Gradient slopes downward through Old Hanna Wood in a North South direction toward Low Wood at the other side of High Fernley Road
