The Mayfly transforms from its larval state on fine summer early mornings they mate in the evening and die soon after completing their mission after the female drops her eggs in the water . Before all this activity and drama the Mayfly lives in its larval Form as a nymph for two years in its aquatic state breasthing throuigh gills on its back . This species is the largest of about 46 species found in the UK It is seen through April to July
