Perennial of dry grassland, mostly on sandy soils. Locally common only in S and E England; scarce or absent elsewhere. Lanceolate leaves are glossy and usually hairless; form basal rosette. Flower heads, 10 to 15mm across, appear June to October. . Height up to 50cm
